The Adels-Contact AC 166® Classic series connectors are designed for internal wiring of luminaires and electrical appliances. These connectors comply with the connector standard EN 61984 and have a flammability rating of UL 94 V-2.
Regarding approvals, the AC 166® Classic series has obtained certifications from UL (Underwriters Laboratories) and CSA (Canadian Standards Association), indicating compliance with safety standards applicable in the USA and Canada. Specific models, such as the AC 166-1 ST/3 SW and AC 166-1 BU/3 WS, are listed with UL and CSA approvals.
These connectors are rated for a maximum operating temperature of 110°C and are suitable for use with conductors up to 14 AWG. They are intended for factory assembly and are not designed for field wiring. Additionally, these connectors are not intended to interrupt the flow of current by connecting or disconnecting the mating connector under load. If routine connection or disconnection under load is anticipated, further evaluation is necessary to assess their ability to withstand the resulting electrical arc.

Connecting and disconnecting under load is permitted by EN 60320 and EN 61984 standards. However, per EN 61535, installation couplers are designed for connection only when not under load. In easily accessible areas, the use of locking pins is required, which can only be removed with the help of an auxiliary tool.
It is important to note that compliance with EN 61535 does not ensure hazard-free non-interchangeability between connecting systems from different manufacturers. The current rating of the system depends on the conductor cross-sections or track dimensions.
